History

Turning Leaf Residential Rehabilitation Services was created in 1995 with one simple goal: To create a community where individuals with unique needs could live with as much or as little assistance from support staff as necessary, and have access to the types of services that nurture the psychosocial rehabilitation process. Once a group of condominiums this property was ideal for the creation of a behavioral health treatment center where a strong focus on behavioral management and counseling could assist our residents in moving toward greater independence. When the potential that this beautiful and strategically located property had for our type of community was realized, the decision to convert rather than to rebuild somewhere else was made.

The condominiums were converted into accessible, four bedroom homes, that we call cottages. Each Cottage can accommodate up to six residents and has its own laundry, kitchen, handicapped-accessible bathrooms and a large combined dining and living area, featuring pleasant and comfortable furnishings. We provide three home-cooked meals per day. Laundry services and medication assistance are also provided, based on individual needs. Our residential programs have staff on site twenty-four hours a day.

Some of the condominiums were left as two-bedroom apartments and furnished to form our Supported Independent Living Program (SIP). Residents in our SIP program have attained a greater level of independence and no longer have a need for twenty-four hour per day supervision. Participants in the SIP program are afforded the opportunity to participate in activities, outings and meals on the Turning Leaf main campus, and staff assistance is provided as needed.

Nearly fifteen years after opening, we remain committed to the rehabilitation process, and are extremely pleased with the progress that we have made as dedicated members of our community. We offer a dedicated staff, lead by a Psychiatrist as our Medical Director. In addition we offer a comprehensive psychiatric team which includes a psychiatric nurse practitioner and Masters Level social workers.
